Rising Damp was a sitcom staring Leonard Rossitor as a mean and hard up landlord called Rigsby. Rigsby had little time for his tenents especially Alan, a student with long hair living in the attic room and also a black man called Philip who was the son of an African prince. He did have time for one of his tenents and that was Miss Jones, a refined woman (compared to Rigsby anyway) who he was often trying to get romantically involved with.
